Umm Munria at the only entrance to her home - a gate next to the 30 foot concrete "security barrier" (left). Israeli soldiers padlock the gate each night and unlock it each morning. If soldiers forget to unlock the gate, the family cannot leave the compound. Jewish settler homes are visible in the background. Settlers frequently throw stones at Umm Mumria's house and family.

MOTHERS' STORIES
The book, Long Time Passing: Mothers Speak about War and Terror is in production and will be available toward the end of 2008. It presents over 30 mothers' stories - from Iraq, Israel, Occupied West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, and U.S. - and the author's, Susan Galleymore's, story of collecting them in person in each of these countries.
Soon a website with more information and photographs of the author's travels - will be available. Check back here for details or order the book now.
Meanwhile, view excerpts from sample stories from U.S., Iraq, Israel, Occupied West Bank, and Lebanon
The following mothers' stories generously present views into the lives of mothers with children affected by war and terror.
